Refurbishment & Demolition Survey:

A refurbishment and demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out on a building built before the year 2000.

This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area where the refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned.

These types of survey are fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach.

A refurbishment and demolition survey may also be required in other circumstances, when more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out.

R&D Surveys are recommended for large loss on all occasions in order to allow an adequate risk assessment of materials being stripped from the property and to allow safe disturbance of possible ACMs.

SCI provide an easy to read R&D report, generated with preliminary supporting documents.

We provide this service for domestic works at a fixed cost covering all of mainland UK.

SCI Targeted Inspections:

SCI offer a nationwide targeted sampling service, our highly trained staff attend inspect and sample suspect building materials.

The sample will be analysed at an independent UKAS-accredited laboratory where the presence of asbestos can be identified.

Whilst this is not a substitute for a more intrusive R&D survey, it does allow for targeted areas of concern to be sampled swiftly and reasonably.

This sampling method is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.
